How far in advance should you order your wedding dress?

We recommend ordering your wedding dress at least four-six in advance to allow time for fittings and alterations. However, we can also accommodate rush orders. Please contact us to discuss your timeline.

Where can I view and try on Gown + Altar designs?

Appointments are available Tuesday and Thursday-Saturday to view and try on the bridal collection in our Mount Maunganui studio. Book here

We also run an open studio every few months so if you want to view the collection before making an appointment. This is a great chance to have an in person browse and find out more about how it all works. Find our next open studio date here

What sizes do you have?

Our sample sizes range from 8-12 with the most popular styles also sampled in sizes 14-18 . Our gowns can be made in standard sizes 6-22 or Made to Measure which is our most popular option for brides that can attend fittings in our studio

What is your price range?

Our wedding dress collection ranges from $1290-$4500 with most of our gowns around $2500. Tops and skirts range from $595-$1700

Do you offer an alterations services?

Yes, we offer alterations services for both our collection gowns and dresses purchased elsewhere. Our team of experienced seamstresses will ensure a perfect fit for your special day. Please allow a minimum of two weeks for a simple alteration.

Can I purchase a wedding dress online?

Yes, we have made it really easy to purchase your wedding dress online. Please get in touch if you need more information or help with selecting your size before ordering your dream wedding dress.

What is the difference between a bespoke wedding dress and a made-to-measure wedding dress?

A bespoke wedding dress is completely custom-made to your unique measurements and specifications. A made-to-measure wedding dress is created based on a pre-existing pattern that is adjusted to fit your body.

Can I customize a wedding dress?

Yes, we offer a range of customization options for our wedding dresses. From minor alterations to a completely bespoke design, we can help you create the perfect dress for your special day.

What is the process for creating a bespoke wedding dress?

Our bespoke process typically involves an initial consultation, design development, fabric selection, fittings, and final alterations. How much does a bespoke wedding dress cost?

The cost of a bespoke wedding dress depends on a variety of factors, such as the design, fabric, and embellishments. At Gown + Altar, we offer a range of bespoke options to suit different budgets. What should I bring to my bridal appointment?

We recommend bringing along any inspiration images you have, as well as any undergarments and shoes you plan to wear on your wedding day if you have already purchased these. It's also helpful to bring along any family or friends whose opinion you value.

Can I make changes to a wedding dress after I've placed my order?

It depends on the stage of production. Minor changes may be possible, but major changes may require additional fees. Please contact us as soon as possible to discuss any requested changes.

Where are the gowns made?

All of our gowns and are designed and developed in our Mount Maunganui studio. Most of our pieces made here in our studio including all of our silk wedding dresses and separates. We also manufacture some of our lace and crepe gowns off-shore.
