Behind the scenes: Transforming Alicia's heirloom wedding dress in to an organza bridal top
A dream project! Alicia came to us in hopes of turning her mothers 1980’s wedding gown into a custom design for her own wedding day.
We designed a custom top using the embroidered organza fabric from the skirt of her mothers wedding gown for the volume sleeves and the long tie. The scalloped lace trim from the original dress hem was carefully appliqued onto the back of the top and the end of the ties. Inspired by our Lovely top we love the big organza bow detail.
We updated her mum’s blusher veil by removing the fabric flowers to modernise it for Alicia’s wedding day.
Alicia’s top, veil and the remaining bodice from her mums dress have been carefully stored away for the next generation.
So special and beautiful!

Alicia’s mother’s original 1980’s wedding gown and veil
The gown had been carefully stored in a camphor wooden box so after 38 years it was still in a beautiful condition
“After 38 years of my wedding gown carefully stored away it has been an honor for Alicia to put it to use for her own wedding gown.
No words can describe the emotion I felt on her wedding day as I dressed her.”
